Woods County Health Department Vaccination Info

June 2, 2021

Alva Public Schools is working with the Woods County Health Department to determine the interest for a Vaccination POD at a school site this summer.  The information below has been provided by the Woods County Health Department regarding precautions for the 2021-2022 school year.

Do vaccinated children need to follow any precautions at school?

  • OSDH still recommends students and faculty remain mindful of their individual risk.

  • Fully vaccinated children and adolescents are no longer required to quarantine after exposure to a case of COVID-19.

    • This means children who are fully vaccinated can safely participate in summer camp, school sports, and remain in the classroom this fall, even after exposure to a case of COVID-19.

    • This will help us safely prevent the interruptions to classroom instruction that were common last year, as entire classrooms would have to quarantine for two weeks at a time.

    • The data show that while transmission of COVID-19 can still occur once you are vaccinated, it is much less likely.

  • OSDH will not be requiring students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in order to return to in-person class in the fall.

If you have questions or concerns about the vaccine, we encourage you to speak with your personal medical provider, who can help you make an informed decision with your child.  Alva Public Schools will forward the information provided to the Woods County Health Department to determine if there is interest for a Student Vaccination POD this summer.
