Alva Distinguished Goldbugs

The mission of the Alva Distinguished Goldbug Program is acknowledging excellence achieved by alumni of Alva High School.  Nominations are accepted annually through July 1.  Awards shall be presented during Goldbug football homecoming.  Nominations not awarded in any given year are archived for future reference and consideration.

The following categories must be Alva High School graduates:  Education, Arts, Business, Athletics, Professional (sciences, law, etc.), Philanthropy, Humanitarian, Posthumous.  In addition, there are two non-graduate categories for individuals having made a significant impact on Alva students:  Teacher and Honorary Goldbug.

Another goal of the Distinguished Goldbug Program is inspiring current students.  To that end, the annual recipients spend time in Alva classrooms during Goldbug homecoming, ride in the Homecoming parade, are introduced at halftime of the football game.  Also, 10-15 students volunteer (through Dr. Simon) as servers and table hosts for the luncheon on Saturday.

The Distinguished Goldbugs are honored with a picuture display in the trophy cases at Alva High School near the Goldbug.
