Message from the Principal
Welcome to the new Longfellow Elementary website! Our goal is to provide a better opportunity to connect with parents and the community as a whole. This website will enable us to share information and post videos and pictures to highlight the accomplishments of our students and staff.
Longfellow Elementary has 180 of the best and brightest students in the world. We have 17 certified educators along with 13 non-certified staff to serve each student's individual needs. We utilize Professional Learning Communities, our Early Intervention program along with differentiated instruction in order to provide both enrichment and remediation to our students in order to keep them on pace with the ever-changing educational climate. We utilize several different technologies to enhance our students learning and prepare them for their future education and a technological world.
This is an exciting time for us, but please be patient with us as we "iron out the kinks" of our new web site.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact us at: 580-327-3327. Your input is greatly appreciated.
UP COMING DATES TO REMEMBER:
Science Fair: The Longfellow Science Fair is Thursday, April 20th. All experiments and posters need to be brought to Longfellow's gym by 9:00a.m. The Science Fair will be open for family viewing from 3:30p.m. to 5:00p.m. We ask that you use the south gym door as all other areas of the school will be closed during this time. All items need to be taken home by 5:30p.m. so we can put the gym and cafeteria back together for school on Friday.
Box Tops: The 2nd grade vs. 3rd grade contest will end this Thursday, April 20th. The winner of this contest will get to watch a movie at the Rialto. This is the final contest of the year and we are a long way from our overall goal of 15,000 Box Tops, so keep clipping!
Longfellow Music Program: All 2nd and 3rd grade students will participate in our Spring Musicn Concert Tuesday, April 25th at 9:00a.m. at the Alva High School Auditorium. Students will need to arrive to school as usual and then will be bused to the high school. They will be bused back to Longfellow following the program.
Pictures: Longfellow Outdoor individual and class pictures will be taken Thursday, April 27th. All Students will be photographed with their class, but only students who return their picture packet with payment will be photographed individually.
***April and May are very busy with award programs, field trips, and other fun activities. Please check your student's back pack on a regular basis for permission slips and information sheets. Make sure all permission slips are returned so your student can enjoy this time with classmetes.***
Lunch Notices: Please note that lunch notices have not been sent home with students due to issues with the computer program that runs our lunch system and the overwhelming number of free/reduced applications that were turned in. We should be able to run lunch notices next week, so please be patient with us as we work through the issues.
